Netball thirds and circle board

Restart from the centre pass, send the wing attack down the sideline, hold denial on the transverse line and feed the goal circle. Each of those four is a published diagram.

World Netball 30.5×15.25 m, thirds and goal circle. Plot a centre pass, a wing attack and a circle feed through the thirds.

Playing the thirds

The court is 30.5×15.25 m, split into thirds, with a goal circle at each end. A guest can draw. Saving the diagram needs a free account.

Centre pass

The centre stands in the centre circle and the centre pass must land in the goal third. The ready diagram shows the first options before the whistle.

Wing attack

The wing attack starts outside the goal third and offers on the circle edge. The diagram is that offer, not a whole-team formation name.

Denial and circle feed

Denial stands goalside of the receiver on the transverse line. The circle feed is the pass into the goal circle for the shot.

Ready diagrams

  • Centre pass

All seven positions line up and the centre passes from the centre circle to the wing attack. Use it to set the first options after a goal and the defenders' marking positions.

  • Wing attack

The wing attack receives on the sideline and feeds the goal attack moving into the circle. It shows how to bring the ball from the centre third toward a shot.

  • Denial

The wing defence steps in front of the wing attack to block the pass, with the goal defence and goal keeper behind. Use it when you want to force a long or high pass.

  • Circle feed

The goal attack holds the ball in the circle and the goal shooter shoots from under the post. Use it to plan the feed angle and where the defender stands.
